How to find us:
Because the City of Bath is such a unique and historical place, it is very well signed from the major roads heading to and from the south-west of England. Here are some useful links and other details:
Driving
1) For the modern traveller: Here's the postcode for your Sat Nav to Pulteney bridge:
BA2 4AY
However, be careful not to drive across the bridge! look out for the camera signs.
The nearest places to park are LAURA PLACE and HENRIETTA STREET (pay & display, limited stay).
(See below for more parking info.)
2) Old fashioned directions (using a map!):
From London: take the M4 west-bound. At junction 18, take the A46 exit, signed to Bath/Stroud. Continue for 20 minutes or so to Bath.
From the South: Take the M5 north-bound. Either take the scenic route - Exit M5 at junction 22, take theA38 exit to Weston-Super-Mare/Bristol (south)/Airport. You'll pick up signs to Bath fairly soon after leaving the motorway, but please note that the roads are narrow with numerous twists and turns, (not good for those prone to car sickness!).
Or: stay on the M5 continue on to the M4, turn off at junction 18, signed to Bath - continue on the A46 to Bath/Stroud - watch out for speed cameras close to Bath!
Parking
Bath is one of those towns that was not really designed for modern traffic, hence parking can be an issue.
Parking is available in and around the centre, but it can be limited and is quite expensive. However,
there are four Park and Ride services available and these are highly recommended, especially in the summer: you buy a return ticket on the bus and there is no extra parking fee - this is by far the cheapest option if you are able and willing to use it.
